Local Attractions

Come experience the magic that is the Rocky Mountains.  Your options are endless.  Do a little or do a lot - the choice is yours!

At 7522 feet above sea level, the village of Estes Park is surrounded by nationally protected lands and by mountain peaks ranging in elevation from 8500 feet to over 14,000 feet.  Estes Park is known for Rocky Mountain National Park and for unparalleled outdoor activities: gentle mountain walks, hikes to awe-inspiring splendor, nationally acclaimed mountain climbing, ice climbing, and snowshoeing.

Estes Park is home to over 200 stores, galleries, and restaurants.  With its scenic Riverwalk and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, sculptures, and free summer entertainment, the town entices vacationers to linger.  Watch for wildlife!  Elk, mule deer, and big horn sheep reside in the area, along with smaller creatures like marmots, beavers, pika, and chipmunks.

Visit Rocky Mountain National Park, open year-round.  Take a deep breath and inhale the fragrance of pine, wildflowers, and clean, crisp air.  Listen to the whisper of aspen trees rustling in harmony with water spilling over boulders in mountain streams.  Being outdoors is what this park is all about.  Fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, birding, and back country experiences are among the most popular activities.  Enjoy spectacular views as you drive Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved highway in the United States (open from Memorial Day until heavy snows close the road, usually sometime in October).

Looking for man-made fun?  There are mini-amusement parks with bumper boats and cars, miniature golf, and go-karts.  A ride on the Arial Tramway to the top of 9,000 ft. Prospect Mountain is a thrill.  The Lake Estes Marina rents boats, bikes, paddle boats, kayaks and more for whole family experiences.  Another favorite is seeing the area while horseback riding: choose from short rides to half-day excursions or evening steak rides.  The Estes Park Aquatic Center offers indoor swimming year-round, AND there are two golf courses in Estes Park!
